From dawn liturgy to evening vespers, Father Konstantinos Vasileiadis carries more than incense and scripture. The Greek Orthodox priest of Neapoli, Kozani—known to his thousands of online followers as “Father Drone,” or just “Father Voio”—has taken his love of cameras and aerial drones and transformed it into a YouTube sensation.

Armed with six cameras, a drone, and professional audio gear, he captures the landscapes, forgotten villages, local festivals, and everyday life of the Voio region in northern Greece. His videos, produced with the care of a seasoned filmmaker, have found an enthusiastic audience not only at home but also among Greek communities in Australia, Germany, and the United States.

Between services in two villages, Korifi and Chrysavgi, Father Konstantinos manages to document almost everything worth showcasing in his homeland—both from the ground and the sky.

His days follow a simple rhythm: church liturgy, school runs for his children Panagiotis and Eleni, a quick coffee at the local kafeneio, and then hours of filming. Only during Holy Week does he briefly set aside his cameras, overwhelmed by the sheer number of church services.

His aim is clear: to shine a light on Voio’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, even its most hidden corners. A stone bridge appears from above and below in his footage; a villager’s story is captured in close-up. Together, these elements create not just videos but an open invitation for viewers to discover the region themselves.

Father Konstantinos is no amateur hobbyist. Over the years he has taught himself how to wire power supplies, set up and link multiple cameras, mix audio, and fly his drone with precision. At summer festivals, he often livestreams entire events, sometimes running five cameras and a drone simultaneously. For locals, his presence has become essential: a celebration without their tech-savvy priest feels incomplete.

It all began modestly, with a small camera and the curiosity to experiment. Early support came from Greek expatriates in America, and today many others contribute through his channel, ensuring that his mission continues.

Father Konstantinos may be rooted in liturgy and tradition, but with his lens and drone, he has found a modern way to keep his corner of Greece alive in the hearts of people across the world.
