Human Skeleton Found in Central Greece

Authorities are working to identify the remains discovered by a passerby near the town’s former slaughterhouse area, while a rope found nearby is also being examined.

Authorities in Kalambaka, central Greece, are investigating after a human skeleton was discovered in an area known locally as Sfageia, near the foot of Ailias.

A young man passing through the area discovered the remains and immediately notified the authorities. A rope was also reportedly found at the scene and is being examined to determine whether it may be connected to the circumstances surrounding the death.

Authorities seek to identify remains

Investigators are now focusing on identifying the deceased. Based on initial information, authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the remains belong to a man from the wider area who disappeared in 2018.

Searches were conducted at the time to locate the man, but they did not produce any results.

Authorities are examining all available evidence, with laboratory and forensic examinations expected to play a key role in the investigation. The tests are expected to help establish the identity of the deceased, as well as provide information about when and under what circumstances the person died.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery and piece together what happened.
