A major search operation is underway to locate a 69-year-old man whose boat capsized in the waters off Potamos, near Epanomi in Thessaloniki. His wife, who was aboard with him, was rescued by a private citizen.
According to reports, the couple had gone out fishing around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, and the exact time the boat overturned remains unclear for now. The missing man’s wife reportedly told authorities she swam for several hours before being found by a private individual. She is currently in a state of shock.
The search operation involves three Coast Guard patrol boats, a vessel from the Underwater Demolition Command (EOD), an Air Force Super Puma helicopter, and a Coast Guard vehicle operating from land.
