A 69-year-old woman from the village of Meliboia, near Larissa, was found dead late Wednesday afternoon on her own property, lying next to her tractor.
The woman had gone to her land earlier in the day to finish some farm work, but was caught off guard by a sudden, heavy downpour.
Investigators believe that as the rain intensified, she tried to head home quickly. While attempting to drive off the sloped side of her property, she appears to have lost control of the tractor, which began rolling backward. The tractor itself did not tip over, but she was apparently thrown from her seat by the sudden jolting and hit the ground, suffering fatal injuries.
The Agia Police Department is investigating the incident and has ordered a forensic examination. Her death has shocked the local community and the wider Agia area.
