Tension gripped the Kypseli district of Athens late on Monday night after unknown assailants opened fire on a man outside a local café. The incident took place near the intersection of Drosopoulou and Krassa streets, a busy residential area.

According to initial reports, the attackers fired at least seven shots, hitting the victim in the leg before fleeing the scene. When police officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings on the ground but no victim.

Authorities were later informed that the injured man had made his own way to Gennimatas Hospital, where he is being treated and expected to give a statement to investigators.

Police units maintained a heavy presence overnight, searching for fingerprints, DNA evidence, and reviewing security camera footage from nearby shops and buildings. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the suspects are still at large.
