The investigation into the death of Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis is expanding to the phones of six people as authorities seek evidence about the circumstances surrounding his death.
A judicial council has authorized the lifting of communications privacy protections for the phones of two detained doctors, three employees of the clinic and Mazonakis himself.
Investigators will examine communications during the period from July 11 through September 10, covering the time before and immediately after the singer’s death.
The measure is intended to uncover potentially important information about the events surrounding Mazonakis’ death and the actions of those involved.
Investigation continues
The investigation is proceeding with witness testimony while authorities await toxicological and histological test results, which are considered crucial to several outstanding questions.
Among the issues being examined is whether Mazonakis was given sedation before the plasmapheresis procedure during which he died.
Investigators are also seeking to determine the dose of adrenaline, if the drug was administered, along with other details concerning the circumstances of his death.
The findings are expected to be important to the investigation into the circumstances of the singer’s death and the potential criminal responsibility of the two doctors.
