The band’s upcoming performance at Athens’ Olympic Stadium has sold out shortly after being announced, reviving memories of Metallica’s iconic 2007 appearance in Greece.
Back then, the group performed on July 3, 2007, as part of the Rockwave Festival at Terra Vibe Park, north of Athens. The concert was included in the band’s “Sick of the Studio ’07” tour and featured a setlist packed with classic hits that left a lasting impression on Greek fans.
Nearly 20 years later, enthusiasm for the band appears stronger than ever.
Frontman James Hetfield arrived in Athens ahead of the show alongside his fiancée, Adriana Gillett. The couple were spotted at Athens International Airport just days before the concert, appearing relaxed and in good spirits.

According to the report, the pair became engaged earlier this year during a shark-diving trip.
Preparations for the concert are already underway at the Olympic Stadium, with rehearsals reportedly beginning immediately after the band’s arrival. Fans passing by the venue over the past day could already hear music and activity coming from inside, while the concert stage has begun taking shape.
Rumours circulating among fans suggest that crowds may begin gathering outside the venue from early Saturday afternoon in hopes of securing the best possible spot near the stage.
