The countdown to Metallica’s long-awaited return to Athens has officially begun. Trucks carrying the band’s massive production equipment have already rolled into Marousi, while the crew kicked off initial sound checks at the Olympic Stadium (OAKA) late Thursday evening. The city is slowly shifting into rock mode, as anticipation builds for one of the biggest live events of the year.

Beyond the excitement, fans are already imagining the essentials: the likely setlist curated by James Hetfield and his bandmates, the endurance required for a night of relentless headbanging among the now 40-plus generation of metalheads, and, of course, the inevitable flood of Instagram posts designed to spark FOMO in those who stayed home.

But before the lights go down, there are practical matters to consider — from entry times and access points to transport and exit strategies for the post-show crowd.

Gate times and schedule
According to organizers, gates open at 4:00pm. The night begins with Knocked Loose at 6:00pm, followed by Gojira at 7:00pm. Metallica are expected on stage at approximately 8:30pm, with the show concluding around 11:00pm.
