A British tourist staying at a hotel in Chania, Crete, left the property after being bitten by mosquitoes and subsequently asked for his money back, according to a local official.
The unusual incident occurred about a month ago and was described to the Greek newspaper Patris by Kyriakos Kotsoglou, an appointed adviser to the Region of Crete.
Tourist asks for refund
Following what he described as an infestation of mosquitoes, the tourist decided to leave the hotel. He then sent a photograph showing his leg covered in mosquito bites.
Along with the photograph, he asked the hotel to consider a partial or full refund of the money he had paid for his stay.
The tourist said the bites had significantly affected his emotional state. He described his mood as “terrible” and said his vacation had been ruined.
