New Evidence Emerges in Critical Injury of 3-Year-Old Girl

Investigators are examining DNA evidence, preparing arrest warrants and dismissing an initial claim that the child was injured in a playground accident, as suspicions of severe abuse intensify

Authorities investigating the case of a three-year-old girl hospitalized in critical but stable condition have uncovered new evidence that is reshaping the inquiry into how the child suffered her injuries.

The investigation is now focusing on DNA testing involving the child, other children linked to the case and the two individuals identified as her parents. Investigators are seeking to establish biological relationships and clarify key questions that have emerged during the preliminary inquiry. Officials consider the results of the genetic tests crucial to the direction of the case.

According to reports, authorities are also moving forward with procedures to obtain arrest warrants. The two individuals under investigation already face serious allegations, including attempted homicide and causing dangerous bodily harm.

Mother Under Additional Scrutiny

Investigators are also examining allegations that the child’s mother provided false information when she arrived at the hospital with the girl, allegedly attempting to conceal her true identity.

Reports indicate that she later tried to leave the hospital, but medical staff, having recognized the seriousness of the child’s condition, kept her at the facility until police arrived.

Suspected Father Arrested

The man identified as the child’s father was arrested following a coordinated police operation.

According to information from the investigation, officers allegedly allowed him to believe they had accepted his claim that he had traveled to Athens. Instead, they continued monitoring locations frequented by members of his community. He was eventually detained after appearing at a predetermined location and taken into custody for questioning.

Authorities are also investigating possible immigration-related violations and examining the circumstances of his residence and movements in recent months.

Playground Accident Claim Rejected

Investigators have meanwhile dismissed the initial explanation that the girl’s injuries resulted from an accident at a playground.

According to evidence gathered so far, not only has no such incident been confirmed, but investigators reportedly found that there is no playground in the area where the event was said to have occurred. Furthermore, the child’s injuries are said to be consistent with severe abuse rather than an accident.

The inquiry remains ongoing, with investigators continuing to review witness statements and newly emerging evidence. Particular attention is also being paid to claims regarding the existence of other children connected to the family, as several statements made during the investigation have not yet been verified.
