Μake us preferred on Google The individuals involved in a brawl over a sunbed at Vouliagmeni beach, along the Athens riviera, which ended in the death of an 82 year old are set to testify on Wednesday, after being granted additional time.
Criminal charges have been brought against the 76-year-old man for causing fatal bodily harm, while his 21-year-old female companion faces charges of aiding and abetting, insult and threats.
The incident took place Sunday morning on the Vouliagmeni waterfront, when the 82-year-old and the 76-year-old, who was accompanied by the 21-year-old woman, got into an argument over one or two sun loungers. The confrontation initially remained verbal, but the two men then became involved in a physical fight.
During the incident, the 82-year-old suffered cardiac arrest. A nurse was on the beach and, together with other people present, tried to revive him, also using a defibrillator. Despite their efforts, the 82-year-old was taken to Asklepieion hospital in Voula, where he eventually died.
In a television interview with MEGA, the 76-year-old gave his version of events, claiming that the victim struck him and that he himself then fainted.
