A parking dispute in Piraeus, Greece, reportedly turned into a frightening confrontation when a 77-year-old man pulled out a trident and chased two brothers following an argument over a parking space.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon (June 17) outside an apartment building on Bizaniou Street, involving two brothers aged 42 and 38.

According to witness accounts, the elderly man opened his car trunk, took out the 130-centimeter-long weapon and attempted to injure the two men after a disagreement over who had the right to use a parking spot.

Witness describes the confrontation

A witness who spoke to Greek news outlet tanea.gr said the dispute began when the older man wanted the younger driver to move his car so he could use the parking area.

“He rang the bell, came downstairs and told him not to leave it there again because he had no right to the parking space,” the witness said.

After hearing the argument, residents came outside and saw the situation escalate. The witness claimed that the 77-year-old then went to his vehicle, took out the trident and began chasing the two brothers.

According to the account, the man first chased one of the brothers, who managed to escape. He then went after the second brother, who fell to the ground. The witness said the man appeared to attempt to strike him with the trident before changing direction and hitting him with the wooden side instead.

Arrest after police intervention

The witness called the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the 77-year-old man.

He was taken to the Police Department of Municipal Theatre in Piraeus, where a case was filed against him for attempted dangerous bodily harm and violation of weapons legislation.

The trident was confiscated by authorities.

Residents of the area said the man had reportedly caused problems in the neighborhood in the past.
