A spell of warm, spring-like weather is set to dominate the first half of Holy Week, with temperatures rising well above seasonal averages before a gradual shift introduces mild instability and scattered rainfall closer to Easter.
Warm and sunny start to the week
On Tuesday, April 7, conditions will resemble early summer across much of the country, with widespread sunshine and clear skies. Temperatures are expected to climb between 20°C and 23°C, reaching as high as 24°C to 25°C in some inland areas.
Winds will remain light to moderate, while visibility may be locally reduced during early morning and evening hours in western regions due to fog.
Major urban areas will also enjoy favorable conditions, with clear skies and mild temperatures throughout the day.
Gradual change begins midweek
By Wednesday, the spring weather pattern will largely persist, though signs of change will begin to emerge. While sunshine will still dominate in many regions, cloud cover is expected to increase gradually, especially inland.
Localized showers and brief rain spells may develop during the warmer hours of the day, particularly in mountainous areas. Temperatures will dip slightly in northern regions but remain relatively high for the season overall.
Increased instability on Thursday
A more noticeable shift is expected on Thursday, April 9, as atmospheric instability affects several parts of the country. Intermittent rain and brief showers are forecast, especially in central and eastern mainland areas and parts of the Aegean.
Cloud cover will become more widespread, although the weather will not be severe. Light snowfall may occur in northern mountainous regions, but without significant intensity.
Temperatures are expected to fall further, returning closer to typical seasonal levels.
Uncertain but mild outlook for Easter
Forecasts for the period from Good Friday through Easter Sunday remain uncertain, with weather models not yet fully aligned. However, current indications suggest generally unsettled conditions in some areas, particularly over the weekend.
Scattered showers are possible, especially on Saturday and Easter Sunday, though no widespread or extreme weather events are anticipated.
Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal norms, with only minor fluctuations.
Meteorologists note that the forecast will become clearer in the coming days as updated data becomes available, but for now, the outlook points to a mix of spring warmth followed by mild and localized instability during the Easter period.
