Thessaloniki Driver Arrested After Multiple Traffic Violations

A 26-year-old man was stopped after speeding, driving under the influence and operating an uninsured vehicle without a license plate or valid driving permit

A 26-year-old driver was arrested in Thessaloniki after police caught him on a spree of serious traffic violations in the early hours of Friday, according to the Hellenic Police (ELAS).

The driver was traveling at 128 km/h on a road with a speed limit of 50 km/h. Even after police signaled him to pull over, he continued driving, leading to a pursuit before he was eventually stopped.

During the subsequent inspection, officers found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police also determined that he did not have a valid driving license, as it had previously been revoked due to excessive speeding.

Further checks revealed additional violations: the vehicle did not have official license plates, lacked an exhaust silencer and was uninsured.

A case was filed against the driver, who was also issued an administrative fine exceeding €2,000.
