A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Thessaloniki after police investigated four robberies carried out inside apartment buildings in the city center, with elderly women among the main victims.
The suspect was identified and arrested following an investigation by officers from the White Tower Crime Investigation Department. Authorities said the incidents took place between May 10 and June 3.
According to Greek police, the man targeted women, mainly elderly residents, inside the common areas of apartment buildings and used physical violence during the robberies. The stolen valuables were estimated to be worth more than €7,000 in total.
Attacks inside apartment buildings
Police said that in some cases the suspect showed extreme violence, creating a risk to the victims’ lives.
In one incident, he kicked a woman, while in another he is accused of pushing a woman down a staircase, putting her life in danger.
The cases were investigated after authorities collected evidence regarding the attacks and the suspect’s alleged actions.
Arrest in the Thessaloniki area
The 26-year-old was located in the area of Sykies, near Thessaloniki, where he resisted police control.
Authorities said he used physical force against officers and attempted to escape, but he was stopped and arrested on charges including resistance and disobedience.
A case file has been prepared and will be submitted to the relevant prosecutor. The suspect is facing charges related to repeated robberies.
