The operating timetable of the Thessaloniki Metro will change again starting Monday, 5 January, as part of the gradual testing process for the line’s planned extension toward the eastern district of Kalamaria. The adjustment is linked to technical trials that are being carried out as the project moves into its next phase.
According to an announcement by the metro’s operating company, Thema, the service will run from 06:30 to 23:00 on weekdays, from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, trains will begin later, with services operating from 08:00 until 23:00.
The company noted that these changes are temporary and connected to the ongoing testing program, which requires operational flexibility while ensuring that passengers continue to have access to the network throughout most of the day.
In addition, commuters are reminded that tickets used on the Thessaloniki Metro are rechargeable. Passengers can reload their tickets at automated vending machines located within the system, a measure aimed at improving convenience and supporting environmentally friendly travel practices.
