A new incident has been reported in the Eastern Aegean, where Turkish trawlers were caught fishing illegally within Greek territorial waters. The event occurred Monday afternoon in the sea area between Agathonisi and Farmakonisi.

Video footage released to the public shows seven large Turkish trawlers operating inside Greek waters, using heavy seabed equipment that reportedly devastates local fish habitats. According to reports, the trawlers were accompanied by three Turkish Coast Guard vessels, which allegedly overlooked the illegal activity.

Greek authorities confirmed the presence of the Turkish vessels through radar signals detected by two Greek fishing boats in the same area. However, by the time Greek Coast Guard patrols arrived, the Turkish trawlers had already departed.

This incident follows a serious confrontation on November 18, when Greek authorities fired warning shots at Turkish fishing boats near Agathonisi after the vessels refused to leave Greek waters. Such recurring incidents highlight ongoing tensions in the Eastern Aegean over maritime boundaries and fishing rights.
