Greek police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of an unidentified man in the residential neighborhood of Agia Paraskevi on Friday afternoon. The incident, which took place in broad daylight on a quiet street, has shocked residents and raised questions about public safety.
According to police sources, the victim was shot multiple times—at least three bullets striking the neck and chest—around 4:15 p.m. on Eirinis Street. Witnesses say the gunman, dressed in black and reportedly wearing a face mask, approached the victim on foot before opening fire and fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
Police have so far ruled out links to organized crime. Early indications suggest the killing may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
“The evidence points toward a personal motive,” a police official involved in the investigation said. “There are no signs so far that this is part of a wider criminal network or gang activity.”
Victim Still Unidentified
The identity of the victim remains unknown, as he was not carrying any identification documents at the time of the shooting—not even a passport or ID card. According to initial reports, the man was not known to law enforcement and does not appear to have had a criminal record.
Authorities are now examining the victim’s mobile phone and car keys, which were found at the scene, in an effort to trace his identity and movements prior to the shooting.
A Targeted, “Professional” Attack
Investigators believe the assailant was familiar with the victim’s routine and had likely planned the attack in advance. The gunman is reported to have fired five shots, striking the victim with deadly accuracy—details that have led police to describe the shooting as “professional in execution,” despite the apparent personal motive.
Five bullet casings were recovered from the scene, which remains sealed off as forensic teams comb the area for further clues.
The case remains open as homicide investigators continue to gather evidence and await formal identification of the victim.
