A total of 95 firefighters were deployed to the scene, supported by 22 vehicles and five on-foot response teams.

Firefighters have controlled a wildfire that broke out in the forested mountain range of Mount Parnintha, north of Athens, on Thursday afternoon.

According to Civil Protection, the blaze started in a remote area, but thanks to early detection and the immediate mobilization of firefighting units, especially aircraft and specialized ground units, it was swiftly brought under control.


Firefighting crews rushed to Mount Parnitha, a forested mountain range north of Athens on Wednesday after a wildfire broke out in an area behind the casino on the mountain, north of Athens.

A total of 95 firefighters were deployed to the scene, supported by 22 vehicles and five on-foot response teams. Authorities closed the Parnitha Avenue to traffic at the cable car junction as crews worked to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading into the surrounding forest.
