Olympiacos delivered another commanding performance in front of a jubilant home crowd at the “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium, defeating PAOK 4-2 in a thrilling encounter during the penultimate round of the Stoiximan Super League play-offs. Having already bested rivals AEK and Panathinaikos earlier this season, the “Red-and-Whites” completed their sweep of the traditional Greek powerhouses, capping the night with a celebration of their 48th league title.
Despite falling behind early, José Luis Mendilibar’s side mounted a spirited comeback, maintaining their unbeaten home record for the entire season. Star of the show was Gelson Martins, who contributed both a goal and an assist, playing a key role in a match that felt like a coronation for Olympiacos fans, as the club reclaimed the Greek crown after a three-year absence.
PAOK made a lightning-fast start, with Andrija Živković capitalizing on a goalkeeping error to score just 40 seconds in.
Olympiacos, however, responded with poise. In the 14th minute, Gelson Martins set up El Kaabi, who laid it off for Velde to blast in the equalizer. The hosts turned up the pressure and took the lead at the half-hour mark through a powerful El Kaabi header from Santiago Hezze’s pinpoint cross.
PAOK leveled again before halftime, as Konstantelias dazzled with a solo run before assisting Živković for his second.
The second half remained intense, but Olympiacos proved more clinical. In the 80th minute, Martins sliced through the defense and teed up Chiquinho for a cool finish.
Seven minutes later, a slick move ended with Yaremchuk feeding Martins, who sealed the 4-2 win with a sharp first-time strike.
The result capped a dominant display and set the stage for Olympiacos’ 48th league title celebration at Karaiskakis.
