Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal arrived at Kaunas’s Zalgirio Arena to watch Zalgiris host Olympiacos BC for the second match in the Euroleague, drawing attention as he took his seat courtside.
O’Neal attended the game as an ambassador for a company that partners with the Lithuanian club.
Before tip-off, he praised European basketball and Greek teams while he had a warm embrace with Olympiacos’s French star, and former NBAer, Evan Fournier.

“I know the competition in Europe is huge. To win the trophy you need at least two top players, and then a roster built around them,” O’Neal said. “Greek teams are very strong, but what matters more is who wants it more.”
Olympiacos, the reigning Euroleague champions, hope to make it two out of two after opening their campaign to defend the title with a win against Baskonia in Spain, 106-89.
