Accommodation businesses in Greece saw their revenue grow during the first quarter of 2026, while the food service sector recorded a decline, according to figures released by ELSTAT.
Specifically, total revenue across the accommodations sector reached 528,393 thousand euros in Q1 2026, marking a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025, when it had stood at 512,310 thousand euros.
In the food service sector, total revenue for Q1 2026 came in at 2,141,243 thousand euros, representing a 1.9% drop from Q1 2025, when it had reached 2,183,671 thousand euros.
By Region
Among accommodation businesses in regional units that contributed at least 1.0% of total sector revenue in 2025, the largest revenue increase in Q1 2026 compared to Q1 2025 was recorded in the Regional Unit of Rhodes (29.8%), while the smallest increase (1.8%) was seen in the Attica Region. The steepest decline was recorded in the Regional Unit of Kefalonia (32.1%).
In the food service sector, among regional units meeting the same 1.0% contribution threshold, the largest revenue decline in Q1 2026 compared to Q1 2025 was recorded in the Regional Unit of Messenia (14.8%), while the smallest drop (0.1%) was seen in the Attica Region. The strongest growth was recorded in the Regional Unit of Thira (24.2%).
