U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry, said Friday he plans to visit the Danish territory in March, expressing confidence that a deal between the United States and Greenland could be reached.
Speaking to Fox News, Landry said, “I do believe that there’s a deal that should and will be made once this plays out.” His comments come as a bipartisan delegation of U.S. lawmakers prepares to meet with leaders from Greenland and Denmark to discuss strategic and economic cooperation.
“The president is serious. I think he’s laid the markers down. He’s told Denmark what he’s looking for, and now it’s a matter of having Secretary [of State Marco] Rubio and Vice President JD Vance make a deal,” Landry added, highlighting the administration’s intention to negotiate directly with Copenhagen and Nuuk.
The visit would mark a high-profile step in U.S. efforts to strengthen ties with the Arctic region, following Trump’s renewed interest in Greenland as part of broader strategic and economic priorities.
