President Donald Trump issued fresh threats against Tehran on Wednesday, warning that the United States would strike Iran “very hard” if a peace agreement is not finalized.
“We are going to hit them, hit them very hard, we are going to continue the bombings,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to Iran’s armed forces shooting down an Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump reiterated that Iran would be hit again that same day. “We want a deal that makes sense, we want a deal that works,” he added regarding the ongoing negotiations with Iran, saying that Tehran is “playing games with us.”
The president also noted that the Islamic Republic has already agreed not to acquire nuclear weapons, but the deal still needs to be signed.
Considering Strikes on Power Plants and Bridges
Earlier, a Fox News report portrayed Trump as deeply frustrated with the developments. The president reportedly asked his advisers about the possibility of striking key Iranian infrastructure. According to those reports, Trump is said to be very close to ordering new strikes against Iran, specifically targeting power plants and bridges, as he is determined to apply maximum pressure to get the deal he wants.
Separately, other reports indicated that a Qatari negotiating team traveled to Tehran on Wednesday with the goal of securing an immediate agreement between the U.S. and Iran in order to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
Trump Claims “Millions of Barrels of Oil” Have Been Taken from Iran
“We have taken out millions of barrels of oil, millions of barrels,” Trump claimed. “Every night, we were taking that oil,” he said, adding: “Millions of barrels of oil have been removed, and that is why the price is at $85-$90 a barrel instead of $250.”
Trump, who is facing growing political pressure amid rapidly rising fuel prices in the United States, also said prices would fall once the war is over.
