During the investigation, a canister of gasoline was found at the scene, reinforcing suspicions that this was a deliberate, organized arson attack. Authorities are looking into two young individuals, believed to be around 22 to 25 years old, who were seen with their faces uncovered. Investigators are now reviewing security camera footage from the surrounding area to trace the suspects’ movements before and after the attack.

According to journalistic sources, Kostas Pitsios, the Zografou deputy mayor whose car was destroyed and who also owns the building where the attack took place, said witnesses came forward and that two plastic bottles of gasoline were found under a car, one open and one sealed.

Pitsios said he was home at the time and heard a loud bang but didn’t think much of it initially. When he heard a second one, he went out to the balcony and saw the vehicles engulfed in flames, calling the damage extensive. He added that one witness managed to see the attackers, two people, and described them to police, noting that one carried out the attack while the other stood watch, and that a separate witness later saw them running away from the scene.

A short time later, a second fire broke out in the entrance of an apartment building in Galatsi. Around 4:30 a.m., a fire erupted on Iras Street, completely destroying a car and a motorcycle, with a second car also sustaining damage. Two people suffering from respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation were taken by EKAB ambulance to a hospital as a precaution. The cause of the Galatsi fire remains under investigation, with authorities also considering the possibility that it, too, was a deliberate arson attack.
