We are searching for a new vision for Europe. But it is also exquisite to see how far we have come. In this article you will read about the history of Europe and how things have taken a turn for the better. And you will also read about new ideas to make Europe greater than it already is.

If we talk about Europe, it’s hard to look past the history of it. It has survived some of the most horrible things known to mankind. Think about the slavery, holocaust and the world wars that happened. The second world war with 55 to 70 million kills. But after the second world war you can see the change in what Europa valued. It wasn’t a war or a big military. It was working together. It was making sure that Europe is going to be innovative and a developed environment for the next youth. It was the education that was important. But a stable economy was also very much needed. With all the countries of Europe working together and with help of the V.S. Europe learned how to prevent a war, economic crash and most importantly unnecessary deaths. This had a big impact on all of us, but it was needed for a strong and long-standing Europe.

After World War II, Europe underwent a profound, internally driven transformation aimed at ensuring lasting peace, economic recovery, and social stability. By working together, all European countries created a safe and stable environment in all fields for all its residents. For instance, Europe began opening its internal borders with the implementation of the Schengen Agreement on March 26, 1995, initially allowing for passport-free travel between some countries. The Schengen Agreement expanded to including 29 countries as of January 1 2025, which include 25 EU Member States and 4 non-EU countries. This Agreement was reached and is based on mutual trust between the countries. This is an example of what Europe does and did to thrive. For example, like how it thrived economically by opening borders, which led to a faster and more efficient way of importing and exporting goods. In addition to how Europe developed politically, demographically and scientifically. To illustrate the growth, consider the following examples;

The creation of European Coal and Steel Community, which later developed into the European Union.

Collaboration between countries increased, leading to multinational research initiatives.

This all was reached thanks to the cooperation, trust, democracy and the rule of law between the countries.

Europe has developed and made great innovations but there is always room for improvement. Let’s think about artificial intelligence. We have seen that it poses a threat to humanity and the environment. First, it’s a reduces the working of the human brain. Because of artificial intelligence humans have a bigger chance of doubting themselves and they’re decisions.  Humans also rely less on themselves and think less for themselves which can lead to an academic downfall in their study or career which leads to less important and intelligent people on the planet. It also needs an excessive amount of energy to be used. Which is so toxic for the environment. For example, the polar bears that have no place left to live which is partially the cause of the immoderate water use of AI. Or the global warming in which AI has an impact on through the immense energy consumption of the data center, which run on fossil-fuel-based by training and running large models, thereby raising greenhouse gas emissions, which traps heat and contributes to climate change.

In this article we have taken you through the history of Europe, and how it has developed and learned from such mistakes. Lastly, we talked about a problem that has a big impact on all of us right now, Artificial Intelligence. We hope we enlightened you about Europe and a problem that is currently arising.
