Visitors to Skiathos can explore the Greek island through the eyes of one of its most celebrated writers with the Skiathos Audio Tour, running from August 19 through September 26, 2026.
The walking tour uses excerpts from the stories of Alexandros Papadiamantis, who was born on Skiathos in 1851, to guide participants through the island’s main town. Music, soundscapes and storytelling accompany the experience, offering a glimpse into Skiathos as it might have appeared around 150 years ago.
The tour highlights locations featured in Papadiamantis’ work, including those associated with The Murderess, while also introducing visitors to the author’s life and the history of the island.
Original music from performances by the Skiathos Garden Theatre forms part of the audio experience. The tour also features what is described as the first worldwide recording of the bouzouki, made in 1917 by a nephew of Papadiamantis.
Headphones are provided for the tour.
