Free Access to Greece’s Archaeological Treasures This Sunday

The Ministry of Culture opens the doors to these sites without charge on the first and third Sunday of each month from Nov. 1 to March 31.

This Sunday, January 18, visitors will have free access to Greece’s public museums, monuments, and archaeological sites, including the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, and the National Archaeological Museum.

The Ministry of Culture opens the doors to these sites without charge on the first and third Sunday of each month from Nov. 1 to March 31.

In addition, free entry is offered on special cultural dates: March 6 (Melina Mercouri Memorial Day), April 18 (International Monuments Day), May 18 (International Museum Day), the last weekend of Sept. (European Heritage Days), and Oct. 28 (National Holiday).

The Acropolis Museum Exception
The Acropolis Museum does not participate in the monthly free Sundays. Its complimentary access is limited to specific dates: March 6 (Melina Mercouri Memorial Day), March 25, May 18 (International Museum Day), and Oct. 28 for the full day.

Partial-day free entry may also be granted during the European Heritage Days, subject to the Board of Directors’ decision.

This initiative offers an ideal opportunity for locals and tourists alike to explore Greece’s rich cultural heritage at no cost.
