Greece recorded one of the sharpest increases in airfare prices in the European Union in June, with ticket costs rising 15.1% from a year earlier, according to data released by Eurostat.
The increase was the third highest among EU member states, behind Belgium, where prices climbed 28.7%, and Austria, which posted a 22.3% increase.
Greek airfare prices have consistently ranked among the bloc’s largest annual risers in recent months. Airfares rose 21.8% year-on-year in March, 17.3% in April and 18.6% in May, with Belgium recording the highest increases during each of those months.
Eurostat said the cost of air transport services across the European Union has fluctuated significantly since the beginning of 2025, reflecting changes in travel demand, seasonal patterns and the impact of recent geopolitical developments.

Eurostat stated that the overall trend was primarily driven by fluctuations in international air travel, where prices tend to be more volatile than domestic fares. International ticket prices fell sharply during periods of weaker demand but also posted strong annual increases, including 14.1% in April 2025 and 8.7% in May 2026.
In June 2026, prices for international flights across the EU were 4.5% higher than a year earlier, while domestic air fares rose 2.0%, according to the statistics agency.
