A warning about suspicious bank accounts linked to defendants in the tax evasion case involving the “Horiatiko” bakery chain reached Greece’s Anti-Money Laundering Authority from Ireland.
According to reports, the competent Irish authorities immediately notified the independent Authority. Its head, Charalambos Vourliotis, an honorary deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court, promptly began the process of freezing the funds identified abroad.
While investigating authorities continue to work on the case, reports indicate that the anti-money laundering authority had already received information and documents about the activities of the defendants before the case became public.
As a result, the authority’s contribution to dismantling the ring was considered decisive.
