ROTD: Classic Beef Patties

This recipe for classic beef patties is super easy to make and yields juicy, delicious food to serve with a variety of side dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg minced beef – try to get beef with some fat in it.
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 slices of bread 2-3 days old, without the crust
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. If you are using lean meat, you should add 2 extra tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. Grate the 3 slices of bread in a blender until they become fine crumbs.
  3. Put the minced meat in a bowl.
  4. Add the vinegar to break down the meat fibers.
  5. Grate the onions and tomatoes directly into the minced meat to get all their juices.
  6. Add the oregano, salt, freshly ground pepper, and olive oil.
  7. Knead very well to make the mixture fluffy.
  8. Add the dry bread crumbs and continue kneading.
  9. If the mixture is tight, sprinkle with a little water.
  10. If it is loose, add a few more breadcrumbs.
  11. Put a few drops of olive oil on your hands and shape the meat into meatballs.
  12. You will end up with about 10 pieces.
  13. Arrange them on a tray lined with non-stick paper.
  14. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C on the middle rack for 10 minutes.
  15. Turn the beef patties over and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes.
