Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Manhattan on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, with the two leaders exchanging views on bilateral and European issues.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation between Canada and the European Union in areas of common interest, including artificial intelligence, space and energy, as well as in preparation for Greece’s rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2027.

The meeting comes against a broader backdrop of efforts to deepen Canada-EU ties, with cooperation increasingly extending to areas including defense, technology, critical minerals, energy and supply chains.
Mitsotakis’ meeting with Carney formed part of his program during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly in New York, where he is holding a series of meetings with international political and business leaders.
The Greek prime minister is also expected to address issues concerning energy, security, technology and investment during his visit, while highlighting Greece’s role in the eastern Mediterranean and its commitment to international law.
