From October 1, Greece enters a new digital era in healthcare with the launch of a nationwide online hospital appointment system. The initiative aims to simplify procedures and give citizens quicker access to medical care.
More Appointments, Less Waiting
“All hospitals will be on the MyHealth App from October 1,” announced Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis. “We are adding 7 million appointments—tripling availability—and making it far easier for patients to find open slots.”
Appointments can be booked free of charge through the national hotline 1566, the MyHealth App, or the government platform finddoctors.gov.gr.
A Pilot Success at KAT Hospital
The KAT Attica General Hospital was the first to join the system in a pilot phase. Early results are striking: waiting times for specialist appointments have dropped dramatically.
“With the MyHealth App, what used to take three months with an EOPYY doctor now takes just three days,” said Georgiadis. “At KAT, appointments once scheduled four months ahead are now available within 24 hours.”
A Broader Digital Transformation
The rollout was highlighted at the 24th Annual Conference of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, where digital transformation and innovation were central themes.
The new system is expected to ease patient frustration, reduce bureaucracy, and mark a milestone in Greece’s effort to modernize public healthcare.
