Athens Metro Adjusts Schedules Amid Track and 5G Upgrades

Three stations will close early nightly until February 21, with temporary bus services and tram schedule enhancements to ensure commuter access

Athens commuters should prepare for temporary changes to metro services as critical infrastructure upgrades are underway. From Sunday, January 11, until February 21, work on rail replacement and the installation of a 5G network will affect Line 2 of the Athens Metro.

Three stations—Syngrou Fix, Neos Kosmos, and Agios Ioannis—will close at 21:40, 2.5 hours earlier than usual, from Sunday through Thursday. During this period, Line 2 trains will operate only between Anthoupoli–Acropolis and Elliniko–Dafni.

Temporary bus service

To cover the affected stations, OASA has launched the temporary circular bus line X10, connecting Syntagma to Dafni while stopping at Syngrou Fix, Neos Kosmos, and Agios Ioannis. The bus begins at Zappeio on Amalias Avenue and follows a set route in both directions to maintain commuter access.

Tram enhancements

Tram Line 6 will also see added services between Syntagma and Neos Kosmos from 21:30 until the end of operations to assist passengers during metro disruptions.
