The case of the 28-year-old woman in Crete is turning into a complex puzzle, with her 30-year-old husband now facing a charge of attempted homicide. While he continues to insist it was an accident, evidence found inside the vehicle and testimonies from relatives appear to paint a very different picture.
The accused claims the passenger door suddenly opened due to a mechanical fault, causing his wife to be thrown onto the road. However, that version of events clashes with a series of troubling questions.
First, if the 28-year-old simply fell from the vehicle, how is the detached bumper — found broken off and loaded into the back of the van — explained? And when, and how, did the front windshield crack?
Second, police discovered blood stains not only on the passenger-side handle, but also on the side sliding door and the rear door of the vehicle.
Third, despite the 30-year-old’s claim that the door was defective, initial checks carried out by police did not reveal any malfunction in the locking mechanism.
Their daughter’s testimony
Video footage from the couple’s home shows the family leaving with the bumper still attached to the van. During the 22 minutes that passed before the suspect called his mother-in-law, the 30-year-old — who tested positive in a breathalyzer test — claims the accident occurred.
The most shocking element of the case, however, comes from the couple’s 6-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The child, who was inside the vehicle at the time, reportedly told her uncle: “Dad opened the door and threw her [mom] out.”
According to Cretalive, the testimony is considered crucial, with authorities now awaiting an evaluation of the child by a child psychologist.
The Couple’s Troubled Past
The 28-year-old woman remains hospitalized suffering from what doctors described as “post-traumatic amnesia.” In the few words she managed to whisper, she reportedly said: “A car hit me,” without being able to provide further details about what happened.
At the same time, reports are emerging of a troubled past between the couple, including allegations of a violent incident in January 2026, while the woman was heavily pregnant.
The victim’s mother described scenes of chaos. She found her daughter bleeding on the ground a few meters behind the van, while her son-in-law appeared hysterical, shouting about their children.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities believing that the testimony of the 28-year-old woman — once her condition allows — may be the only account capable of definitively revealing what happened during those critical minutes in Pantanassa, a village in Crete.
