Authorities in southern Greece are investigating a fatal shooting after a 44-year-old man was found dead inside a livestock facility in a rural area near the city of Kalamata.
The victim was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head, believed to have been caused by a hunting shotgun. Police say the perpetrator remains at large, and the weapon used in the crime has not yet been recovered.
The body was found by a 50-year-old woman who manages the facility, along with a 47-year-old man. Both immediately alerted the police. According to initial findings, the victim—an Albanian national—had been staying temporarily with the pair in recent months.
A large police operation is underway in the surrounding countryside, an area characterized by farmland and scattered businesses. Investigators have sealed off the scene and are combing through evidence, including any available surveillance footage that could help trace the suspect’s movements.
At least three individuals have been brought in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are working to clarify the sequence of events leading up to the killing and determine any possible connections between those involved.
Forensic experts have also examined the site as officials continue to piece together what led to the fatal incident. The investigation remains active.
