A fatal accident involving one of the now ubiquitous electric scooters on Athens’ streets was reported on Friday in the Pangrati district. The victim, identified only as a man, lost his life after he fell from the scooter.

According to reports, the victim lost control of the scooter and subsequently hit his unprotected head on the pavement. The incident took place in front of witnesses who immediately alerted first responders.

Paramedics frantically tried to revive him at the scene to no avail.

Authorities suspect that the man may have suffered a massive heart attack after his fall and collision. An autopsy is pending.
