One of the most intense heatwaves of the summer is approaching Greece, with the country’s National Meteorological Service (EMY) issuing an Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin. Temperatures are forecast to rise significantly starting Saturday, July 5, reaching their peak between Monday and Wednesday.

When And Where Will Temperatures Peak

According to EMY, the most extreme heat is expected inland, particularly in western, central, and northern regions of mainland Greece. From Monday, July 7, maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to exceed 40°C, with some locations reaching 41°C to 42°C.

On coastal mainland areas, temperatures will be slightly lower, ranging 2 to 4 degrees below inland values. Humidity levels are expected to remain low—between 20% and 30% during midday—especially in interior regions. Meanwhile, overnight temperatures in urban centers will stay high, ranging from 26°C to 28°C on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, offering little nighttime relief.
