A new Belharra-type frigate ordered by the Hellenic Navy, the HN Kimon, commenced sea trials this week off the Atlantic port of Lorient in France, where it was constructed by Naval Group.
The French shipbuilder posted relevant video and photographs of the ship on its social media accounts on Friday.
The vessel, the first of four such warships on order by Greece, which will comprise the Kimon-class of frigates, has been designated as F-601.
Earlier, Naval Group carried out sea trials, or “shaking down” as it’s called in military terminology, of the Amiral Ronarc’h, a similar frigate ordered by the French Navy.
The vessel is expected to be commissioned this year.
