Greek authorities carried out a major raid inside Domokos prison, searching multiple cells as part of an ongoing investigation into the killing of an inmate.
The operation, led by a specialized police unit often referred to as Greece’s “FBI,” focused on high-security areas of the facility, including cells linked to inmates believed to have knowledge of the murder. Among them were prisoners reportedly present during the incident.
Officials said nine cells were searched during the latest operation. Officers recovered several prohibited items, including mobile phones, chargers, 14 improvised knives, and five makeshift stabbing tools.
The raid follows a recent homicide inside the prison, for which a foreign national inmate and a senior prison guard have been accused. Authorities are examining potential involvement or knowledge among other inmates.
The searches also build on earlier inspections conducted last week, when officers examined 17 cells and similarly discovered contraband items such as mobile devices and weapons.
