A police raid at Korydallos Prison in Greece has led to the arrest of 11 inmates found in possession of drugs and improvised weapons, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out by the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) following intelligence that inmates inside the facility were hiding narcotics and weapons in their cells. The targeted raid took place in one of the prison wings that reportedly also houses individuals previously linked to terrorism-related cases.

During the search, police discovered 16 grams of white and pink powder substances, a small quantity of what is believed to be processed cannabis, two improvised knives, and a mobile phone. All items were confiscated as evidence.

The eleven detainees have been formally charged in connection with the possession of illegal substances and weapons. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine whether more individuals were involved in the illicit activities.

Korydallos Prison, located near Athens, is Greece’s largest correctional facility and has been the focus of multiple security operations in recent years.
