The Municipality of Piraeus has completed extensive resurfacing works on Akti Miaouli, one of the city’s most central and heavily trafficked streets. The project, carried out overnight, aimed to reduce disruption to daily traffic and port-related activities while ensuring a safer and more efficient road for drivers and pedestrians.
The Department of Repairs and Maintenance oversaw the works, which included a full restoration of the roadway to address wear and damage caused by continuous heavy use. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing program to upgrade and maintain the urban road network, enhancing both functionality and quality of life across Piraeus.

Municipal officials, including Charalampos Liakostavros, the Councilor for Repairs and Autonomous Works, and Dimitris Pefanis, President of the First Municipal Community, monitored the project to ensure high standards and proper planning.
Mayor Yiannis Moralis emphasized the strategic importance of Akti Miaouli, stating: “This street is a key artery with heavy traffic throughout the day. Conducting the works at night allowed us to minimize inconvenience for citizens and drivers. Our broader infrastructure program continues to focus on modern, safe, and fully functional roads across the city.”
Liakostavros added that the resurfacing improved road safety and driving conditions, noting that targeted planning ensured minimal disruption despite the street’s high traffic volume. He stressed that the city will continue interventions to create a safer and more modern Piraeus for all residents.
