A gangland-style slaying took place in the northeast Athens district of Aghia Paraskevi on Friday afternoon, with a gunman approaching the victim, described as an unknown man around the age of 40, and striking him twice or three times.
The fatal shot was received in the victim’s neck.
Five shells believed to be from an automatic 9mm handgun were recovered by police at the scene.
The perpetrator fled the scene on foot but was seen by eyewitnesses. According to reports, he wore a surgical mask during the attack.
The incident is the latest in a series of deadly shootings related to underworld activity and criminal gangs in the country.
