A 16-year-old driver has been remanded in custody following his testimony in a hit-and-run case that left a teenage girl critically injured, as doctors report signs of improvement in her condition.

The decision came after the minor admitted full responsibility for the incident during his court appearance, apologizing to the victim and her family.

Teen admits responsibility

According to his testimony, the teenager said he panicked after realizing what had happened and fled the scene out of fear. He expressed remorse and stated he is willing to assist the victim and her family in any way possible.

He also told authorities that he used the motorcycle involved in the accident primarily to commute to work.

A 22-year-old friend who was with him at the time supported the same account, also apologizing and citing fear as the reason for leaving the scene. The 22-year-old was released under restrictive conditions.

Victim shows signs of recovery
