Track replacement work is continuing on Line 3 (the blue line) of the Athens Metro, with crews moving Wednesday, September 16, to the Elaionas–Monastiraki section.

As a result, temporary traffic arrangements will be in place during nighttime hours, with three stations closing earlier than usual.

Specifically, from Wednesday, Sept. 16, through Thursday, Sept. 17, as well as from Sunday, Sept. 20, through Thursday, Sept. 24, the Elaionas, Kerameikos and Monastiraki stations will close at 9:40 p.m., two and a half hours earlier than the regular end of service.

During the work, trains on Line 3 will operate on the Dimotiko Theatro–Aigaleo and Syntagma–Doukissis Plakentias–Airport sections.

Toward Doukissis Plakentias:

  • Dimotiko Theatro: 9:20 p.m.
  • Aigaleo: 9:34 p.m.
  • Elaionas: 9:36 p.m.
  • Kerameikos: 9:39 p.m.
  • Monastiraki: 9:41 p.m.

Toward Dimotiko Theatro:

  • Doukissis Plakentias: 9:30 p.m.
  • Syntagma: 9:49 p.m.
  • Monastiraki: 9:51 p.m.
  • Kerameikos: 9:53 p.m.
  • Elaionas: 9:56 p.m.

What applies to Airport services

For Airport services, the last trains before the technical work begins will depart at:

  • Dimotiko Theatro → Airport: 9:06 p.m.
  • Airport → Dimotiko Theatro: 9:10 p.m.

After 9:40 p.m., trains heading toward the Airport will depart from Syntagma station, while trains arriving from the Airport will terminate at Syntagma.

Departures from Syntagma to the Airport: 10:02 p.m., 10:38 p.m. and 11:14 p.m.

Departures from the Airport to Syntagma: 9:46 p.m., 10:22 p.m., 10:58 p.m. and 11:34 p.m.

Temporary X24 bus line

To serve passengers, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) will operate the temporary X24 “Syntagma Metro Station–Aigaleo Metro Station” bus line from Sunday through Thursday, from 9:40 p.m. until the end of Metro service.

The X24 will connect Aigaleo with Syntagma and serve passengers using the three stations that will remain closed.
