Authorities are still trying to identify the young man who suffered a neck fracture after diving into shallow waters from a pier in Northern Greece Wednesday afternoon. No relative has also come forward to search for him.
He remains intubated at Thessaloniki’s Ippokrateio Hospital.
The man dove from the pier into shallow water and broke his neck. Swimmers rushed to pull him from the sea and called Greece’s National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB).
According to reports, he is likely a tourist from the Balkans who traveled to Thessaloniki for a vacation. There are also reports that he was with friends, who collected his belongings and disappeared after the incident.
Due to the lack of identifying information, the Hellenic Coast Guard is appealing to the public for any details that could help identify the injured man and notify his family.
