A heartbreaking accident has shaken the Greek island of Rhodes, where a three-year-old girl tragically drowned in a swimming pool at a business establishment. The child was attending a children’s party with her grandmother when the incident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the toddler was pulled unconscious from the pool. Emergency services were immediately alerted, and paramedics from the National Center for Emergency Services (EKAB) arrived within minutes. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts at the scene, the child was transferred to Rhodes General Hospital where medical teams were already standing by. Unfortunately, despite all attempts, doctors were unable to revive her.

Authorities were promptly notified, and an investigation into the incident has begun, with statements being collected from all involved parties. According to local reports, police have arrested the 45-year-old owner of the establishment after it was discovered that no lifeguard was present at the time of the incident, as required by regulations.

Rhodes General Hospital issued a statement expressing deep sorrow for the loss: “With great sadness, our hospital announces the death of the three-year-old child. Despite coordinated efforts, EKAB responders arrived at the scene within six minutes and initiated advanced life-saving measures. The child was transported to the hospital without a pulse, where medical staff, psychologists, and social workers applied all appropriate treatment protocols. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones. We ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
