Upscale Coastal Voula Marks Centenary with Seaside Drone Show

Hundreds of drones will trace a century of Voula’s history in a coastal display on Friday, weather permitting, after strong winds forced the postponement of the original show

The upscale southeast Athens seaside municipality of Voula will mark 100 years since its foundation with a drone show over the coast on Friday evening, weather permitting.

Hundreds of drones are expected to form illuminated images and symbols tracing key moments in the southern Athens district’s development, culminating in a display commemorating the centenary, 1926-2026. The flight will take place over the sea near the town hall of the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni and is expected to be visible from several parts of the city.

Voula is an affluent, predominantly residential coastal suburb in southeast Athens, known for its beaches, green spaces and proximity to neighboring Glyfada and Vouliagmeni.

The show was initially scheduled for Oct. 3 as part of celebrations under the theme “Voula | 100 Years – One City, One Story, One Century,” but strong winds prevented its safe operation.
