A video showing an ambulance weaving through heavy traffic in the northern Greek region of Halkidiki has gone viral, capturing the urgent effort of emergency responders trying to reach a critical medical incident as quickly as possible.
The footage shows the ambulance traveling with its emergency lights and siren activated along the Kallithea–Polychrono road, making a series of challenging maneuvers through lines of stationary vehicles.
At several points, the driver is forced to travel along the double center line or briefly use part of the oncoming lane in an effort to find the safest available path forward.
Summer Traffic Poses Daily Challenges
The images underscore the difficulties faced by crews from Greece’s National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB) during the busy summer season, when traffic congestion can significantly delay emergency response times.
The video also highlights the level of training, precision and composure required of ambulance drivers operating under such conditions.
