The countdown to the official announcement of Konstantinos Karetsas’ move to Borussia Dortmund has begun, with the 18-year-old Greek international preparing for the biggest step of his young football career so far. The Bundesliga club has completed a major investment in its future, securing one of the most promising attacking midfielders of his generation.
Karetsas successfully completed his medical examinations before signing a contract with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until 2031. Only the final formalities remain before the agreement is officially confirmed.
Dortmund has already begun building anticipation around the arrival of the young star, choosing a rather creative way to highlight his Greek heritage. The club shared a humorous video on social media featuring… a Greek gyro as the central character.
In the short sketch, an order for a Greek gyro at a food shop leads to an unexpected misunderstanding, as it appears that the club is in the process of signing a Greek footballer. “You walk into a gyro shop once to get a Greek gyro and suddenly everyone thinks you’re signing a Greek international,” the video jokes, with Dortmund cleverly blending its sense of humor with the imminent transfer.
The German side, however, did not stop at its online teasing. The club has also prepared a special Greek-themed welcome for Karetsas, inviting fans to Olympia Grill in Kamen for an event carrying the message “Vorbeikommen!” (“Come by!”). The 18-year-old is expected to be presented there, in a setting designed to celebrate his Greek roots and add a distinctly Greek touch to his first steps as a Dortmund player.
